Sorry about that.  This also used to work on Ubuntu, at least quite some
time ago.   Meanwhile I'm running Gentoo,  where it still works,  except
for the package being named "dev-python/docutils" :-(

That "make local" didn't work  is really surprising me ...  it basically
calls "./setup.py".  But this may  well do different things on different
distributions.

It was only yesterday that I used this command sequence  to successfully
build Mercurial 6.8.  Was worth a try :-/
